The Cinder Track follows the route of a former railway line between Whitby and Scarborough, now repurposed as a 21.7-mile trail for cyclists, walkers and horse riders.
Our work centred on creating a clear and cohesive identity rooted in the site’s railway heritage. This included the design of a distinctive logo, along with a family of interpretation panels that draw directly on railway materials and forms, incorporating sleepers and steel to reflect the character of the original line.
We also developed a consistent approach to signage and wayfinding, with markers and information points positioned along the length of the route to support navigation and enhance understanding of the landscape and its history.
